What productions are starting up - early 2026

Updated as we hear of new productions

Many crew are finding it very quiet at the moment, so if you're not working, we wanted to reassure you that you're not the only one. These early months are often slow and certainly 2026 has been a tough one so far. It’s easy to get demoralized but all senior crew will remember many years that started just like this. The beginning of April (the new tax year) often brings with it the start of more productions, and we’ve heard positive things about the rest of the year from Warner Bros (even though the longer-term situation at Warners, if it is acquired by Paramount Skydance, looks more complex). So fingers crossed that things will be busier in late spring and over the summer.

Scroll down for the latest gossip we’ve heard about productions starting up, plus those being put back. You can find our original list, which we published in February, at the bottom.

Remember this is not a conclusive list and it is not an official list put out by the studios or production companies - it's what we've ascertained ourselves from discussions with other crew.

Production status changes quickly and frequently, but we'll update the list as we hear of any changes!

  • A film called Jason Statham Stole My Bike is due to start soon at Shepperton: https://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/jason-statham-to-play-jason-statham-in-jason-statham-stole-my-bike-from-david-leitch/
  • A separate film that Jason Statham was involved in, Mr Clark, has been paused for re-writes.
  • Another one we can expect at Shepperton soon is Hello & Paris, a low-budget rom-com with Kate Hudson and Javier Bardem. It’s based on the novel That Part Was True by Deborah McKinlay.
  • At Garden Studios in Park Royal, west London, Only Murders in the Building is said to be starting up.
  • Bad Bridget finally has a start date for the Art Department HODs of early April - hopefully nothing will change there. It’s due to be based in the ROI and Northern Ireland. https://www.qub.ac.uk/News/Allnews/2025/bad-bridgets-heads-to-hollywood.html
  • A TV series adaptation of the shooter game Far Cry is in development - that much has been officially announced - and now there are rumours it’ll be made in the UK. We’ve heard no more right now.
  • Michael B Jordan and Amazon Prime are developing a TV series adaptation of the fantasy novels by Rebecca Yarros. The rumour now is that the project, called Fourth Wing, is getting ready for prep at a UK studio.
  • A few productions have been pushed back, including the MMP Avengers, which is apparently now on hold until June.
  • Dark Park, a horror film starring Millie Bobby Brown, has apparently been shelved for the moment by Netflix after budget issues. https://www.imdb.com/news/ni65638576/
  • We were hoping to see a new Ben Stiller film at Shepperton, but that has apparently been pushed back to the spring.
  • The reshoots for Practical Magic have been pushed back.
  • But reshoots for Clayface and Ghostwriter (now called The Great Beyond) are happening next month. Both are Warner Bros productions and had bases at Leavesden, but we’ve heard no decision yet on where the reshoots will be. Clayface had a lot of location shoots in Liverpool and Manchester.
  • Finally, we mentioned this before but a number of fresh crew have been joining the Harry Potter series as it gears up for season 2. Worth trying here, as not all crew will want to stay for the duration.

Here's the list we published in early February 2026:

TV series

  • Stargate is said to be starting soon at Bray, for Amazon.
  • The Harry Potter TV series has been running for over a year now, but as with many of the long-running series, there has been a renewal of crew at various points. Season 2 starts prep in April so that may be an opportunity for some to get on this series, based at Leavesden.
  • We understand Rings of Power will also be continuing into a new season at Shepperton.
  • Black Mirror is confirmed for Ealing, starting prep in April.
  • House of Dragons are currently doing reshoots, and we know it’s a way off, but should start the new series in October.
  • Alien Earth Season 2 is starting at Pinewood, although we understand that crew budgets have been squeezed, as with many productions.
  • The Siege is smaller budget, based in OMA studios in Radlett, Hertfordshire. They have been crewing up for a while now so may be fully into prep.
  • The next season of Disney's 1000 Blows is also said to be starting soon.

Going abroad

  • There were thoughts that Minecraft 2 might be coming to the UK for a while, but recent information suggests that New Zealand is favoured again.
  • The Warner Bros Ocean’s prequel with Margot Robbie is also thought to be mainly in Europe.
  • There’s been a lot of anticipation around Mass Effect, another game-based feature, but we hear that will be based in Budapest.
  • The live action Tangled  now has a UK Supervising Art Director associated with it. Unfortunately it’s apparently headed for Spain, so might not take on many other UK crew.

The big tent-pole movies are still coming here:
  • We’ve got Batman at Leavesden, which was pushed back for a while, but was due to start this week (early Feb). Note added 18 Feb 2026, this has gone on pause again.
  • The next Avengers movie is starting at Pinewood [note added on 6/2/26, this has been put on hiatus].
  • There’s also word that another X-Men movie, the next Jurassic, Fast and Furious and a Ridley Scott WW1 movie could be all coming here, either in the next few months or later in the year. (Note added 18 Feb 2026 - Jurassic is said to be starting in March.) The Mummy (with original cast) is more imminent and is due into Elstree to start building in May. We also keep hearing about the next Bond and the rumours are this could be a TV series.
  • Wonka 2 is also currently in early development, but no news on where it’s going. There are also some smaller budget features due in the UK, including Mr Richards for Amazon MGM at Shepperton, starting in the next month. Bad Bridget is based in Belfast, an 1850s film with Rich Peppiat directing for Neflix. And finally Dark Park is possibly happening later in the year at either Shepperton or Leavesden, also for Netflix, with Joe Cornish directing Millie Bobby Brown.
  • The Beatles at Bovingdon Studios is a batch of four films. Crew have been on it for over a year now, so there may be some openings there in April when they start the next block.

Already crewed

These productions are already into prep, shooting or we understand are already crewed. However, they may need dailies, so it’s always worth investigating.

  • Ebeneezer, (A Christmas Carol feature with Johnny Depp), shooting in London
  • Sonic 4, at Shinfield, well underway
  • One for All, Brad Pitt film, in Dublin
  • Elden Ring, in prep
  • Tomb Raider, Shinfield, code name Project Temple
  • Luther 2, Longcross, Netflix, just about to start shooting
  • Daphne du Maurier film, with Anthony Hopkins and Uma Thurman, about to start filming at Leavesden, so all crewed
  • The Husbands, code name The Lightbulb, at OMA V
  • Wednesday season 3 in Ireland, was on hiatus now about to start
  • Viva la Madness from Guy Ritchie, in the Gillette Building in west London
  • Gangs of London is starting soon but it is crewed up
  • Bridgerton  - a new season started in January
  • Adrian Mole - also apparently all crewed
  • Talamasca is going to Canada we’ve heard
  • Season 2 of Rivals is finishing, with no date for S3 yet
  • Silo are about to finish season 4
  • Eloise at the Plaza at Shepperton is also finishing in the next few months.
