Filmbase WhatsApp groupsWe now have a number of WhatsApp groups for crew of different levels to collaborate and support each other. You can find the Art Department groups here and the Set Decoration groups here. There is also a group for Coordinators (all departments). We have more groups to come, for Props and Prop Modelling.
Have you been refused car allowance on a recent job?You may have heard about some productions refusing car allowance recently. The Bectu Art Dept Branch Committee have created a survey, which they're asking all crew to fill in, whether you've been refused car allowance or not. Your answers will help Bectu as they discuss this issue with productions. The committee say: "The more information we have, the better placed Bectu are to fight our corner and stop this slide back in working standards." You can fill in the survey more than once if you have worked on more than one job in the last 12 months. Fill in the form here.
2024/25 Bectu ratecard for Art Dept and Set DecThe new 2024/25 ratecard is out for Art Dept and Set Dec crew to use as a starting point for all rate negotiations. Data Reprographics is a long-standing specialist printed props company for the Film and TV industry, and has joined Filmbase as a partner for a second consecutive year, until the end of 2025. BECTU is the trade union that fights for fair working conditions and professional standards for everyone in the UK film and TV industry, including the Art, Set Dec and Props Departments. Whilst Filmbase focuses on getting our members jobs, and helping employers find crew, BECTU's aim is to protect workers when they are on those jobs, to negotiate contracts and produce rate cards for crew members.
