featuring Thomas Love
Thursday 28th August 2025
1:15 - 1:45 (UK time) via Zoom
For our next Filmbase Session we will be talking to Lead Graphic Designer Thomas Love.
This session is for our New to the Industry members who might not yet be sure which area of film design they want to get into.
You might be aware of the work of the Art, Set Decoration and Props departments, but there is a whole department often incorporated into one of these departments which you may have overlooked - the Graphics Department!
The Graphics Union looks after Graphics job alerts, but we realise this area of film design may interest a lot of our members. This is an opportunity to hear from an experienced Graphic Designer about what Graphics for film and TV involves.
It may surprise you to hear it's not just about logos and type-setting. It can include calligraphy, drawing beautiful medieval tapestries, making up screens for space ships, or sketching a giant carpet featuring a detailed pattern. Even if you're set on staying in the Art Department, you'll find that Art Dept Assistants do a lot of the Graphics work on some productions.
Thomas will be talking about all of this - and if you are interested in a career in Graphics, what skills and kit you'll need.
Thomas Love is a Lead Graphic Designer who has worked extensively in film and TV. Thomas is also co-chair of the Graphics Union, so is well-placed to talk about Graphics Dept rates, box rental and other industry issues.
Sign up for the session below. Don't forget to submit a question if there's anything specific you'd like Thomas to answer.
The webinar is FREE for Filmbase members and £10 for non-members. If you'd like to become a Filmbase member, click here. Free to Graphics Union member with a code.
