Industry Update - August 2026

New productions and other news

Here's a round-up of productions we understand are gearing up to start, or already in prep, over the coming months.

A reminder: this isn't an official list from any studio or production company — it's what we've pieced together from conversations with crew. Dates and studios can and do change at short notice, so treat it as a starting point for your own research rather than confirmed fact. We've left out crew names, but directors and cast attached to projects are included where known.

Crew working conditions under discussion between Bectu and Pact

Bectu has now formally submitted letters to Pact, the producers' organisation, opening new negotiations on both the agreements that cover crew working conditions - the Scripted TV Agreement and the Major Motion Picture (MMP) Agreement. Between them, the claims cover turnaround and early call times, overtime caps, night work, and travel, with generative AI and pensions auto-enrolment also on the agenda.

These agreements set a working-conditions baseline that productions are expected to follow. Before 2017, no formal agreement existed. The 2017 Drama Agreement was the first attempt to establish agreed conditions, and discussions have continued on and off in the nine years since.

For art department members

A couple of points in the claim are worth watching in particular: workshop hours, which Bectu says are inconsistent with what's actually being worked in practice. Broken turnaround and early calls also affect Art Department disproportionately, since it's often one of the first in and last out on a shoot day.
