FILMBASE SESSIONS

Neurodiversity Among Film and TV Crew

with Becky Stearn

from

Neurobox

Thursday 22 February

13:15 - 13:45 (UK time) via Zoom

Next in our series of 30-minutes lunchtime sessions, we'll be finding about about neurodiversity.

Awareness is growing around neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD and Autism and the number of diagnoses in adults is increasing.

The NHS thinks that around 1 in 7 people in the UK are neurodivergent, and it has been suggested that there could be a link between ADHD and thriving creatively, which means that neurodivergent behaviour is likely to be part of everyday working life in the Art, Set Dec or Props Departments!

For this session, we'll be talking to Becky Stearn of Neurobox, which works to increase awareness of neurodiversity and to breakdown barriers within the workplace, with courses and programs.

We'll be asking Becky what 'neurodivergent' means and how it affects crew at work.

  • As a crew member with ADHD or Autism, what support can you ask for from your colleagues, plus what wider support is available?
  • As someone working alongside a colleague with ADHD or Autism, what strengths may they have and what challenges? How can you best support them and work well together?
  • As a Head of Department, how can you ensure you get the best out of everybody on your team?

Sign up for the session below. Don't forget to submit a question if there's anything specific you'd like Becky to answer.

The webinar is FREE for Filmbase members and £10 for non-members. If you'd like to become a Filmbase member, click here
