8-9.30pm Thursday 9th February 2023

A panel of experienced Supervising Art Directors and Set Decorators will discuss the issues crew members face when negotiating rates, and how best to deal with them. They will also discuss the most recent rate card, issued by the BECTU Art Department branch in December.   

The Panel:

John Bush, Set Decorator. With over 46 years experience in the Film and TV industry, John has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share. Having worked as a Set Decorator on every genre and budget of film over the years, including most recently Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Black Widow, John has a vast experience of budgeting and negotiating.  

Adam O'NeillSupervising Art Director. Adam has a great understanding of all the Art Department roles, after starting as an Art Department Assistant in 1992, before progressing to Draughtsperson, Art Director and most recently, Supervising Art Director on productions such as Pennyworth and Empire of Light. 

James LewisSupervising Art Director. James started his career in the industry in 1998. Since then, James has worked as a Production Designer on numerous TV series, as well as a Senior and Supervising Art Director on large budget productions such as The Batman and an upcoming Star Wars series. James is an advocate for achieving parity of rates for Art Department crew.

Lisa ChuggSet Decorator. Lisa has several decades worth of experience on a variety of budgets, working as a Production Buyer and Set Decorator. Most recently Lisa has worked on The Sandman, Enola Holmes and Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw.  Lisa strives to achieve fairness and parity of rates for all her team members. 

Kevin Timon Hill, Supervising Art Director. After working on numerous large budget films as an Art Department Assistant and Draughtsperson, Kevin has most recently supervised on several mid budgets, such as The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar and My Policeman. Kevin has also been a member of the BECTU Art Department Committee for several years and led changes to the rate card, working with the committee and the BFDG.
