for Film and TV

With Prop Modeller

John Lee

Thursday 1st August

1:15-1:45 (GMT) via Zoom

In this session, we will be getting some top tips about starting out in prop modelling, from experienced Prop Modeller, and department head of the Model Making one year diploma course at the National film and Television school, John Lee. John has had an extensive career as a Prop Modeller, Art Director and Designer, working on some of the most prestigious and well know films in recent years. These have included Harry Potter, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, V for Vendetta, Moon, Casino Royale, The Martian, and three of the latest films in the Star Wars franchise.

If you've been wondering what it would be like to make some of the most iconic props seen on screen, then John can tell you! He'll also be advising on the steps you need to take to have a similarly exciting career in the prop modelling world. We'll also be asking John about the realities of working in the business, particularly when films and jobs are scarce.

Many of the graduates from John's course have been employed in the UK Film and TV Industry, on projects such as: Wicked 1 & 2Chicken Run:2, Pinocchio, Dune:2, Masters of the Air, Wonka, Barbie, Spitting Image, Life of Pi, The House, and many TV commercials and promos!

This webinar is sponsored by our partner BGI SUPPLIES, who are one of the top industry prop and SFX manufacturing workshops in the UK.

The webinar is for aspiring prop modellers who are looking to get into the industry or who are wondering what it's all about.

Sign up for the session below. Don't forget to submit a question if there's anything specific you'd like John to answer.

The webinar is FREE for New to the Industry members and £10 for non-members. If you'd like to become a Filmbase member, Click here
