FILMBASE SESSIONS

Wellbeing and meditation session

with life coach and meditation guide Ariadne Kapsali

Thursday 4th April

1.15pm - 1.45pm UK time via Zoom

We all know that when times are tough and our mental health is stretched, we're supposed to do all those obvious things that social media tells us to.... some exercise, talk to friends, take some time for ourselves... but sometimes that is just easier said than done. Particularly in times of stress, which is exactly what that last few months have been whilst the majority of crew wait for the work to start again.

For this session, we'll be talking to Ariadne Kapsali about dealing with stress in the moment. When you're struggling to make ends meet and unsure when the next job will come your way. We'll also talk about the long-term effects of being out of work for a while. Work can be such an intense experience and it can become part of your identity. When that disappears, it can be very unsettling for many of us.

Ariadne Kapsali has impressive credentials in the field of wellbeing and mental health. After a decade working in the NHS, in Psychology and Mental Health, Ariadne is now an award-winning Internationally Certified Life Coach, Yoga Teacher, Meditation Guide and Mental Health professional. You can read more about Ariadne's practice on her website.

Ariadne will be talking to Camise Oldfield, chairperson of the Graphics Union and also a mental health first aider, and will take Camise though through some meditation techniques, as well as discussing approaches for support your mental health and wellbeing in these times. Ariandne will cover the following in the session:

  • Explore how to navigate feelings of helplessness, overwhelm, anger, burnout, shame, guilt and other common emotional responses to periods of uncertainty and challenges to our identity
  • Discuss a few practical ways to help you cope with uncertainty
  • Guide you through a simple meditation practice that promotes self compassion
  • Talk through how coaching can support you to navigate this challenging time and support your wellbeing
Everyone is welcome to join in with the meditation and of course cameras can be turned off if you would prefer.
