Holding your Rate!

Hosted by Bectu, Filmbase and the BFDG

With panelists from the

Construction, Lighting Technicians, Props and Art Dept. Bectu Branch Committees

8-9.30pm Wednesday 24th January 2024

on Zoom

As the industry starts up again, there is concern that crew will be asked to freeze or even drop their rates to accommodate the financial pressures that productions are facing as a result of the new actor and writer agreements.

With inflation and cost of living at record highs over the last year, crew should be raising rates rather than dropping them, and should not be responsible for absorbing the cost of the actors' and writers' increased rates.

Our panel will include crew members from both the Art Department and Props Department Bectu Branch committees, who will discuss how crew should respond to any requests by productions to lower or freeze rates.

We are also excited to have members of the Construction and Lighting Technicians Bectu branches on the panel. Both of these Bectu branches have successfully negotiated independent contracts, rate cards and yearly rate increases with PACT (the producers' trade association), and are renowned for having the strength within their departments to maintain fair rates and terms for their crew.
